THE BULLETIN 2015 |
Living under a rock - It is to be a person who lives in isolation from and has limited knowledge of what is happening in the world around them. Used to describe an ignorant or obtuse person. Usually someone who lives in the basement of their mother's house.
Media Void - A ficticious city in a ficticious country which is free from all types of media and information. Where everybody in the city/state wanders aimlessly around uninformed about everything from the news, to weather, sports and politics.

The Bulletin - Week 14 Another year with more of the same endless babble (or HDBS) |

Regular Season Ends with Notable A.W.’s: Yes, the Commissioner is probably a week early. That’s affirmative. He was a week early to the dance, but what a dance it was. In the last week of the regular season, the Mineral Springs Grenadiers gave the Top Seeded, Regular Season Champs, the Smoke Rise Woosiers an old-fashioned A.W. “I may have peaked too soon,” said Iron, “but I’ll take giving the Woo Crew an A.W. any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.” The old, Wrigley Field/Fenway Park type scoreboard at Mineral (you know, one without lights, etc.), displayed the final score on Sunday, until it couldn’t be read in the darkness: 49-27. As for the Master Woo, he blew it off. “Man we were resting a lot of folks,” Tommy T. said. “We are ready for the Big Daddy Championship Series, psyched for the playoffs, and primed to defend our title and win that Grand Daddy Trophy again… ‘cause I can’t find it and would be hard-pressed to give it to somebody else.”
Another A.W. - Slovaks Proud to Head to the Mullet Series with Another Typical Season: The Sloth Monsters destroyed the Fighting Slovaks in Week 14, by the final score of 31-7. That’s an A.W. of epic proportions, with the Sloths giving the Slovaks a whipping in the woodshed. Mukes is ready for the post-season with a Number Four seed in the BDCS. The white rapper – known as ASlo – completes the 2015 regular season in a very familiar position, 16th, Dead Last. Rumbling on WARTS and from sources in the Commissioner’s office are that Adam’s franchise is in trouble. A groundswell of support has popped up in the last 24-hours to keep the Slovaks in the BDFL. In fact, all but the Commissioner – that means 14 of the 15 other BDFL Franchises have signed a petition to keep the Slovaks in the league, regardless of their participation, payments, paltry showing, and partying. The rank and file is arduously in support of the Slovaks remaining in the league. A spokesman for the “silent majority” said, “We love the Slovaks. We want them to stay in the league. We want them to stay on our schedule. We need that easy W.”
Opposite Results and Opposite Directions: In Week 14, the Druid City Blitz bombed the Bra Burners, 42-29. It was never close, as the Gritz Blitz hammered the Juggernauts of Jugtown, embarrassing Allyson in front of her cousins, kin folk, Honda associates, and lawyer friends down in T-Town. But, here’s the irony: wait for it… wait for it… the ‘Nauts are moving on to the BDCS, while the Blitz is relegated to the Big Mullet Series with the 15th overall seed – that’s next-to-last, in other words, just one spot ahead of the Slovaks. “Irony is so ironic,” said A.E., “but, I’m just glad to be going to the Big Dance. I hope I can make a run and make it out of the Null Set Club.”
Null Set Patriarch – Mark Burr – Inching Closer to Ending 21-year Losing Streak: The headline in the Brookside Daily Banner simply read: Dogs Advance to Big Dance. That’s probably the understatement of the year, until The Bulletin staff realized Dodie Goode was the editor and was obviously stoned at the time. This past weekend, Mark’s Mutts made his hometown proud by defeating the Southside Cheetahs, 26-23. Both of these teams are headed to the BDCS, but for Dog it is his continuing quest, trek, and journey to end a 21-year losing streak in the BDFL.
Sleds Slip Past Gamblers: Two other teams that are going to the Big Daddy Championship Series squared-off in Week 14. The Fairfield PowerSleds proved to be a touchdown better than the Gulf Coast Gamblers, 21-14. A re-match between the two teams in the first round of the BDCS was averted when the Cheetahs won an “online” contest of rock-paper-scissors against the Dixie Mafia to gain the 7th seed. Kenny Breal’s team will be the 8th seed and take on the Woosiers in Round One. Meanwhile, the PowerSleds – who had a stellar season – will be the #2 overall seed in the playoffs and battle the aforementioned Sin Wagon next weekend.
The Rest Are Headed to the Mullet: The Magic City Mayors will be the Top Seed in the Big Mullet Series, for what it’s worth. The Cronies edged the Bullets in Week 14, 17-16. Both of these teams are accustomed to being in the Big Dance, and will probably find it hard to concentrate through the remainder of the BDFL season. Luckily, they have the distraction of the Jr. BDFL, which fits their motto: “It’s all about the kids.”
Warriors Weakly Fall to Armadillos, 19-16: Kurt Prewitt may be headed to the Big Mullet Series, but he’s taking Jaimie with him. The Armadillos may have been awful in 2015, but they finished with a big win over the Black Creek Wooden Warriors, and one spot ahead of them in the final, regular season standings. If nothing else, they should make the BMS a little more entertaining – not that anyone will be paying attention.
Woe is Me: in Woeful Match – Wizards Win One Over Wildcats: The Wizards and Wildcats are both going to the Big Mullet Series. And, if Week 14 is any indication, both of these teams are likely to end up in the Toilet Bowl – and lose it – and end up at the bottom of the barrel. On the final weekend of the regular season, the Pasco County Wizards scored only 14 and still managed to beat the Western Hills Wildcats, 14-6. If they each play like this in the BMS, they could go all the way… to the bottom and give the Slovaks a “run for their money.”
Meanwhile in the Jr. BDFL: The Grizzly Burrs, FSA, Hooks & Lures, and Barn Burners were all eliminated in Round One of the Playoffs. Scores from Wildcard Round:
