THE BULLETIN 2015 |
Living under a rock - It is to be a person who lives in isolation from and has limited knowledge of what is happening in the world around them. Used to describe an ignorant or obtuse person. Usually someone who lives in the basement of their mother's house.
Media Void - A ficticious city in a ficticious country which is free from all types of media and information. Where everybody in the city/state wanders aimlessly around uninformed about everything from the news, to weather, sports and politics.

The Bulletin - Week 4 Another year with more of the same endless babble (or HDBS) |

George Costanza bonanza In Week 4, the Bulletin is a tribute to George Costanza. Those of you who are not Seinfeld fans… you should be. Here are some of George’s top quotes:
“Just remember, it’s not a lie, if you believe it. Another week, another crushing A.W. for the Slovaks; in a battle of Slovensky brethren - Jack Slovensky crushed Adam Slovensky - 54-20, in the most lopsided game in Week Four in the BDFL. The Bulletin would tend to refer to this type of game as an “embarrassment” for the losers, but in ASlo’s case, heck it was only a 34-point loss. “I don’t think it was as bad as Georgia,” said Adam in reference to the Dawgs getting slaughtered one day earlier, at home, in Athens by the Crimson Tide in the beatdown known as the “Washout.”
“Like I don’t know that I’m pathetic.” The Slovaks might be overall pathetic, granted, but the MOST pathetic effort in the BDFL in Week Four belongs to half-Slovak Hime Hand. Old Kawliga’s Wooden Warriors scored only 5-point enroute to getting hammered by the Hayden Haymakers, 23-5. It was a truly pitiful effort by the Tribe, and another vict’ry for the defending champions by two of the league’s former champions who have done a complete disservice to the Grand Daddy Trophy.
“If relationship George walks through this door, he will kill independent George!” The Sin Wagon was rolling down hill like a snowball headed for hell this past weekend. In their way was the Western Hills Wildcats, who reverted to Mildcats. The Southside Cheetahs steamrolled the BioCats 34-22. Apparently, the Cheethas like playing in their new digs on Southside, because they can get to Sammy’s quicker after vict’ries to begin celebrating.
“If I owned a company, my employees would love me. They’d have huge pictures of me up the walls and in their home, like Lenin.” Even though that looks a lot like a quote from Mr. Mark Burr, and evidence suggests there are large photographs and possibly a statue inside the locked gates of Synaflex Rubber in Talladega, the Bulletin can assure you that it is indeed a Costanza quote. “This was supposed to be ‘the summer of George.’ That’s another quote from Costanza. However, the Dogs believed going into the 2015 BDFL season that this was going to be the ‘season of the Dogs’ – an end to 21-years of futility, but it doesn’t look too good now. In Week 4, Mark’s Mutts lost to the Sloth Monsters 26-19 in a match-up of old roommates. (Who in this league is not former roomies?)
“A George divided against itself cannot stand.” Internal dissent is eating at the heart of the Cronies this season. The Mayors cannot get on the same page. The esteemed Mayor is incapable of getting the city commissioners to see things his way. The slush fund for pet projects has dried up, and now the Mayors are getting beaten by a bunch of girls in the BDFL. The Jugtown Juggernauts only scored 16-points in Week 4, but that was good for a 10-point win against the Mayors, who could only muster six points. The Mayors have scheduled impromptu visits to Knoxville, Tenn., and Athens, Ga. to cheer themselves up because they figure things are much worse there.
“I’m much more comfortable criticizing people behind their backs.” Criticism is something the BDFL Commissioner takes in stride. He doesn’t blow up in news conferences. He doesn’t file suit in federal court. Iron Hand just lets his Mineral Springs Grenadiers go out on patrol on Sunday afternoons in search of BDFL vict’ries. The former Grenades brought home a big one in Week 4, after subduing the Dixie Mafia on the Gulf Coast, 18-15. To add insult to injury, the Commissioner beat Kenny Breal in a “real deal” home run contest in Biloxi.
“I invented ‘It’s not you, it’s me.’ Nobody tells me it’s them, not me. If it’s anybody, it’s me.” Kurt Prewitt’s Duncanville Armadillos came east from Texas to T-Town to defeat the Druid City Blitz, 25-19. No details from the game were available before The Bulletin’s deadline. Besides, we have to get to some more Costanza quotes. Here’s another: “I’m 33 years old; I haven’t outgrown the problems of puberty, I’m already facing the problems of old age. I completely skipped healthy adulthood.”
“For I am Costanza, Lord of the idiots” Like an idiot, Bullet started a player with a BYE week, with a perfectly good player available and playing, who ran for over 100-yards. The player (T.J. Yeldon) didn’t score, so it didn’t really matter. Meanwhile, the Bullets were beaten by the Pasco County Gators, who changed their name for a week to honor Coach Mac and his team that beat Ole Miss, and to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Parks getting his ribs cracked on an onsides kick that he fumbled, and his former buddy, former Lee County transfer, “Bookworm” Robert McGinty’s 50-yard field goal to spur UF to a come-from-behind win.
“Yeah, I’m a great quitter. It’s one of the few things I do well. I come from a long line of quitters. My father was a quitter, my grandfather was a quitter… I was raised to give up.”
After Four Weeks in the Jr.BDFL: Only the Benton Butterflies and the Free State of Winston County Walkers remain undefeated in Jr. BDFL action. Here are the scores from Week Four and the latest standings from the Junior Circuit.
