Survival of the Fittest Grenadiers and Bullets salvage vict'ries to stay alive in the premier Big Daddy Championship Series (BDCS) hunt MEDIA VOID - Mukes scored 21-points in Week Ten, but was still given an A.W. If you recall, the Sloth Monsters were shut out last weekend. So, three touchdowns was a big improvement for the Three Toed Tree Dwellers, even though they were dealt a whipping (A.W., 44-21) by the Commissioner. Iron brought out the napalm and agent orange this week, and completely obliterated the Son of Slim. With the vict’ry, the Commissioner remains alive for a shot at the Big Daddy Championship Series (BDCS) even though he has no margin for error. As wild as it sounds, the Sloths have NOT been mathematically eliminated either. |

Bullets Edge Armadillos by one, 19-18: Speaking of staying mathematically eligible for the Big Dance, the Bullets are still hanging in there with what is now a 3-7 record on the season. However, the Bullerino does have the lowest point total in the league, and would need multiple teams to falter under the “Bullet Rule,” in order to make the BDCS in 2013. “So you’re telling me there’s still a chance,” said Bullet after his Confederate Conglomerate took down the Duncanville Armadillos, 19-18, in Week Ten. “We won without Brady,” said a thrilled Bullet. Meanwhile, Prewitt took it pretty hard, noting in his journal that he’s never defeated the Benton Bullets (in the BDFL, horse shoes, or any other sport).
Nauts Rolling, Sleds Slowing (A.W. #2): In the only other A.W. of Week Ten, the Jugtown Juggernauts jumped all over the Fairfield Powerless Sleds, 35-13. That’s an A.W. in a game where the Sleds were completely “out-classed” by a bunch of girls. Talk about going in opposite directions; the ‘Nauts are 7-3 and look to be a virtual lock for the Big Dance, while the Mean Machine is a paltry 3-7, and just one game from elimination (or the Mullet Series, depending on how you want to look at it).
Gamblers Roll Past Slovaks, 31-18: Kenny Breal was just glad he didn’t have to play the Bullets again. The Gamblers gave a big nod to the schedule-maker, and took advantage of the generosity to defeat the Fighting Slovaks, 31-18. ASlo has long-past been relegated to the Mullet Series. On the other hand, the Gamblers now have 7-wins, the top point total atop the Rugged Red Neck Division, and appear to be one of the favorites heading into the stretch drive in the BDFL.
Woo Crew Wins Again - Doubles Up Cheetahs: The Smoke Rise Woosiers had no trouble with the top team in the Old Grey Beard Division. The Woo Crew hammered the Riverchase Cheetahs this past Sunday, 28-14. The vict’ry moves Tommy T’s Team to .500 on the season, at 5-5, while Butch Neal’s Sin Wagon wobbles to 6-4, but still in very good shape to make a run at an unprecedented 5th BDFL Championship.
The Mayors rally to bury the Bones Fresh off the million mile march to end racism at Grambling, the Rainbow Coalition was back home in Bombingham to take on the Brookside Porch Pooches in an inner city grudge match. The Dogs may know a little something about a broken bottle and a switchblade, but a timely drive by shooting will win every time.
Woodies Whip Wizards: Hime took no mercy on Merlin in Week Ten. The Black Creek Wooden Warriors welcomed the Pasco County Wizards to the Fultondale Metroplex with an 18-6 wood-shed type whipping that was over even before the fat girl could squeeze out a note. The Tribe now looks to be in a pretty good position to defend its first-and-only championship, while Parks’ lethargic, low-scoring team takes home the “Toilet Seat Team of the Weak” award, and their subsequent 8-2 record still may not be enough to get them into the Big Dance, with their Total Point Category looking weak.
Blitz Edges BioCats, 19-17: In a Yellow Hammer Division showdown this weekend, the Druid City Blitz held on to upset the Western Hills Wildcats, 19-17. Both teams are now 7-3 on the season, and stand a better-than-average chance of making it into the BDCS with their point totals (higher than any team in the Old Grey Beard Division).
In case you missed it… In the absence of other BDFLers on the Quad Saturday, Bullet was able to inform Curt Jarvis, Bucket, Randy Rockwell, and Larry Abney that their chances of getting into the BDFL in the near future were slim and none. |
