The Wooden Warriors weed whack the Sloths to keep their first ever title hopes alive through Week 12 BLACK CREEK - Back when "form" tackling was legal and scouting was an art, a certain high school coach would implore young, manipulative former players to attend practices and games to "scout" upcoming foes. First their was the legendary Eldridge "California" Franklin, who must have live in California for a few weeks, who posed as a sports writer for The North Jefferson News and would actually attend opponent's practices, take notes and interview the coach. "Cal" as he was known in his heyday would then report back his findings to the coach in a detailed scouting report. Then there was Jaimie and Mukes. Less sophisticated than Franklin, but just as effective. On their first scouting trip, they made a stop at the liquor store to buy whiskey. When Jaimie asked, "Are we going to scout, or drink?", Mukes replied soundly, "To scout...now hold this" handing the bottle to Jaimie to hold on to as they made their way to the game to scout.
