The Dixie Mafia is on a hit campaign and the latest victims were the Scarecrow Gang of Bangor Cave BLOUNT SPRINGS – Few know of and even fewer have ventured into the Bangor Cave just north of Hayden. During prohibition, give or take a decade, the Bangor Cave was the hot spot of North Alabama for whiskey, gambling and wild women. None of this was legal at the time, but that never stopped folks from coming to the "Pain Cave" for their obsessions. The whole operation was run by the local Scarecrow Gang in them parts and most stayed away from the wild-eyed Southern boys of Blount County. Feasting on the troop trains and local yokels, the Scarecrow Gang had built up a solid clientele with little tolerance for trouble. However, you are never too far from the long arm of the law, nor the Dixie Mafia. With a network of hitmen on the ground and under the ground in this case, the Dixie Mafia flushed out the Scarecrow Gang from Bangor Cave and knocked them off in time for a canola picnic at nearby Rickwood Caverns.
